Firefox Upgrade Woes

Last night, Mozilla announced that Firefox 1.5 has been released. While I love Firefox and use it as my main web browser, I'm going to hold off on the upgrade - let me tell you why.

On my main Mac, after I giddily downloaded and installed it like a true web nerd, I was impressed by the smooth install process. However, when I cranked it up, I immediately noticed a rendering bug on one of my sites. After installing it on my PC and checking the same site, it was fine - so it seems us Mac folks are being penalized on this upgrade.

Secondly, I can't customize my search engines in the search bar. I try to install the plug-in, and nothing happens. On my Mac, I get an empty line where the plug-in should be listed.

And last, while this is minor, my favorite skin doesn't work. It seems they've overhauled much of the underlying structure of the program, which is great as it'll make it better and even more secure down the road, but I think I'll hold off a bit. But if you're on a PC, it's still a much better choice than Internet Explorer. 

Bottom line: If you're on a PC running Windows, yes - install it! Otherwise, hold off. 

Progress on the Folio

Made big progress on the "Projects" section of the site today, and am getting really excited about finally, finally launching this site - it's been so long! But with the current workload, I've only had time on the weekends - and I'm doing my best to take advantage of this long, Thanksgiving weekend.

Speaking of which, we hosted out first Turkey-Day, and it went over great! At first I wasn't so hot on grilling a turkey in 15 degree weather, but it wasn't that bad, and it came out so well I'll gladly do it again. Much thanks to Steve for the recipe!
