Cheers to SMPS

I had a great time, and met some great people while giving my SEO presentation a couple days ago for the Society for Marketing Professional Services. I just want to say thanks to everybody for having me, with a special thank you to Deborah Hodges for the invitation.

Matt to Present at the Chicago Society for Marketing Professional Services
4/22/2008

On May 7th, I will be giving a presentation about how a basic understanding of  a web page's HTML can boost your search engine visibility. By becoming aware of a few core concepts, you'll arm yourself with how to go about tweaking an existing site, as well as things to keep in mind when building a new one. I am not sure if this is an open session or not, but will post any further info as it becomes available. Update: This is a closed session.

There's Something About Twitter
4/3/2008

I'm not quite sure what it is yet, but just a day after signing up on Twitter, something is definitely going on with this. Big media companies like the Trib and NY Times have accounts, and they "tweet" their latest news updates (yes, there is actual news on Twitter). Lots of busy professionals tweet-off their successes and frustrations and communicate with others in their field. Sure, much of it does seem like nonsense, but when looked at as a whole, there's a wealth of, well, something there.

Matt's a-bloggin'
3/4/2008

After attending the SEED Conference this year, I was inspired to start practicing what I preach, and start a blog. Really, this is just a "cook book" of what I do and know. It can get a bit geeky/code heavy at times, but there will also be some entries related to improving your Google searches, as well as helping search engines identify the juiciest content on your website. The latest entry will always be auto-pumped into the home page here, next to the coffee mug, and you can also check out the full blog (still a work in progress).
